Melanie Roy and The Big Bad Beat is an infectious funk/soul/boogie/r&b dance cover band that features crushing vocals and killer grooves while playing the greatest hits from every generation. 

They have effortlessly had folks up and dancing at Tunes on Tuesday in Newberg, The Tigard Festival of Balloons, and a variety of large events held inside venues such as Ilani Casino, Wildhorse Casino, and Seven Feathers Casino.

(along E. Main Street flanking 1st Ave to 4th Ave)

La Strada dei Pastelli is an open-air,  two-day, summer chalk art festival where community engagement and art appreciation combine into one FREE fun-filled weekend.

The festival is supported in part by the City of Hillsboro and Patricia Reser.

This Oregon classic provides a window into the creative process of nationally-recognized and emerging professional chalk artists as they carefully manipulate bold, colorful pigments to produce huge, temporary drawings down the center of the streets. "Professional chalk artists utilize the saturated hues to fully render images ranging from flamenco dancers, family portraits, goofy dogs, and iconic cartoon characters," says a press release from the Tualatin Valley Creates art nonprofit. "The range is limitless and is a staple for large-scale chalk artists around the world.” 

Most of the art premiered here will average ten feet wide by ten feet tall!

Simultaneous with the visual arts exhibitions, local live performing artists such as dance groups and musicians will fill the air with rhythm and sound from the festival’s main stage while local art vendors line the streets, offering unique items and inspirations to all the attendees. Additionally, there will be a wide variety of food and beverage options (including beer and wine), multiple family-friendly games, interactive demonstrations, kid’s activities, and visitors can even make their own small-scale chalk art!
